Applications for Reveal Innovation award are now closed.  We will soon announce the 2011 Innovation award winner who will be exhibiting at the Engine Room between 5 and 10 December.

What:Reveal Somerset works strategically for Somerset’s visual arts and media and is a partnership between Somerset Art Works, Brewhouse Visual Arts and Somerset Film. The aim of the partnership is to raise the profile of visual arts and media and to support the ongoing development of contemporary practice in the county through local and wider partnership working. This comes at a time when there is a growing infrastructure of practitioners but also at time when the sector is looking to a sustainable model of development.

The partnership are seeking an experienced artist/curator to enable Reveal to expand its networks by building international links with artists, artist-led groups and organisations who share similar values, issues and vision.

The artist/curator will need a good knowledge of contemporary practice and artist led activity both in the UK and abroad. We are keen to work with someone who is keen to explore different international models of delivery; interested in developing and sharing their own creative practice and knowledge with others in order to extend debate and support contemporary practice in the county

This is part of an Arts Council funded action research project and so we are looking for someone who is happy to be part of this form of development. There are two key delivery points to this research, the first is to contribute to the planned Reveal conference in March 2012 and the second is to influence the planned Cultivate 2 exhibition at The Brewhouse Gallery in late April/May 2012

The successful artist/curator will be offered a fixed fee of £2000 for this work, plus £1000 expenses. It is expected that the artist/curator will work approx 10-12 days and that the expenses will cover all travel for the person appointed and others travelling to and from Somerset.

Where The successful applicant will have negotiated access to the resources of the three Reveal partner organisations located in Taunton, Bridgwater and Langport. This could include workplace, office support, telephone, etc.
